Bucky Allred

Bucky Allred and his wife of thirty-four years, Garnelle (Griffin), live in Glenwood, NM and own the Blue Front Bar and Café.  Their children, daughter Sibyl and son Colby reside in Glenwood while daughter Sarah lives in Las Cruces, NM and is attending New Mexico State University.

Bucky's music career began in the early 1970’s while he was attending Western New Mexico University on a football scholarship.  His band played in bars and dancehalls throughout southwestern New Mexico and in 1975 he moved to Albuquerque and played with various bands in several of the nightclubs in existence at that time.  From 1976 through 1981, he played the Caravan East circuit in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.

Bucky went on to Nashville and was on four different record labels and had six records released nationally, three of which charted in the trade magazines.

He returned to New Mexico in the mid 1980’s and worked for several years in Albuquerque as the event manager at Tingley Coloseum on the New Mexico State Fairgrounds and returned to Glenwood about 1993 and he and Garnelle took over operations at the Blue Front.

Bucky didn’t touch his bass guitar for over twelve years and it was just a couple years ago that he pulled it out of the closet, blew the dust and cobwebs off it and began playing a little with Dee Ford and others around Glenwood.  

Today his vocals are as rich and full as they ever were and his passion for playing music has returned with a vengeance.
